* Update as of Tue, Apr 2: Seminar participants will now be given the chance to earn 2 LAUSD Salary Points or up to 6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)! Just like in previous years, all participants will be expected to participate in all 5 days of the seminar, complete the daily seminar survey during the seminar week, and submit a lesson plan based on what they have learned from the seminar. These tasks will qualify them for 1 LAUSD Salary Point or 3 CEUs, but this year, 2 LAUSD Salary Points or 6 CEUs will be available if participants also complete the 60 hours worth of homework assignment in the link below by August 1.  Click the link to download the Word document.

Then, mail a $50 refundable check to reserve your spot. This is our Seat Reservation Policy / Holding Deposit. All applicants must mail a refundable deposit of $50 in a form of check. The check will be returned to you on the last day of the seminar, upon your completion of the full 5-day seminar.

Fellowship is for those who reside 40-miles outside of Los Angeles and would like to have their hotel expenses paid for during the week of the seminar. Fellowship application is due Friday, March 15. Fellowship selections will be announced via email by Saturday, March 30.

Message from Mary Connor, Seminar Co-founder:

We are gratified that many educators (70) have signed up by April 4th for the June 24-28 seminar. We have organized seminars for 14 years; this is the first time we have received so many applications months before the seminar begins. We have space for approximately 65-70 teachers. Originally, we stated that everyone should submit a refundable check of $50 by June l. Since we continue to receive daily applications, we need to change our June l deadline for the check deposit.

Last year, we also had a waiting list; however, ten people did not show up on the first day of the seminar and this meant that ten people who could have attended could not. It was too late to notify those on our waiting list that they could join us for the seminar week. We do not want this to happen again.

As a result, we encourage you to mail your refundable check to Sung Kim by April 20 to guarantee a place for the seminar. We will not cash your checks, but return them after attending the seminar from June 24 through June 28. The June 1 date for deposits will no longer guarantee your enrollment in the seminar. 

Also, we will create a list by the date of one’s application. If you have reserved your place in April with your refundable check and cannot attend, you must notify us by June 1. This way we will be able to give places to teachers on the waiting list and your $50 check will be mailed back to you. If you do not notify us by June 1, we will keep your check and use the funds to buy history and literature books on Korea to give to teachers who attend the seminar.
